The red wine Saint Émilion Grand Cru from Château La Grave Figeac is an elegant and structured red wine originating from the heart of Saint Émilion on the right banks of the Gironde River in Bordeaux in France. We have here a classic blend of organically grown Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapes and that has matured for 15 months in small French oak barrels.

The wine is ruby red with a garnet hue and gives off delicious aromas of red cherries and herbs, rich flavours of blackcurrant and Morello cherries with hints of vanilla, wet stones, leather and cedar wood. It is a wine that is smooth and elegant with fresh acidity and persistent tannins, creating a beautiful structure and a good and delightful length. We recommend an hour of decanting before serving the wine. This will open up the wine to reveal the delicate flavours even more.

This Saint Émilion can be enjoyed on its own, or as a perfect companion to cured meats, roasted duck breast or game, perhaps with red wine sauce and mushrooms. 2015 was a great warm year in Bordeaux resulting in this wonderful vintage that can be enjoyed right away, but has also the potential of ageing very well and can easily be kept for 10-20 years or more.

Château la Grave Figeac is located in the coveted area between the famous wine estates Château Cheval Blanc and Château Figeac. Bordeaux doesn’t get any better! The château is owned by Caroline and Laurent Clauzel who work passionately with organic methods to ensure the best treatment of their vines as well as being respectful of nature and biodiversity. The family estate is only 7 hectares with very little space between the rows of vines, and can only accommodate horse driven ploughs to till the soil. The château’s total production is only an exclusive 35.000 bottles a year.
