Cuvée Thèrese is the top shelf white wine made of 100% Viognier grapes from Château Saint Estève d’Uchaux, located in the Rhône Valley in southern France. It is a rare wine made from old Viognier vines that produce low yields and highly concentrated grapes and delivers quite the unique and enchanting experience. The bouquet is intense with wonderful aromas of acacia flowers, white peach and honey melon while the palate is rich in flavours of apricot, butter, vanilla and nuts. It has a creamy full body balanced with a fresh acidity and an incredibly long finish.

Cuvée Thèrese is named after the elegant lady of the castle Thèrese Français, who is the wife of the owner and wine maker Marc Français. The wine is only made from the best vintages and has only been produced twice since 2010. In the current vintage 2016 only 1500 bottles were produced, which makes it quite a rare wine. The grapes are harvested when they are slightly overripe and after fermentation the wine is matured in new oak barrels, that add vanilla flavours and complexity to the wine. The wine is ready to be enjoyed now and will continue to evolve beautifully in the bottle for the next 5 years. We recommend letting the wine breath for about half an hour in a decanter to release all the delicious flavours. Enjoy it with fat fish dishes, foie gras or simply on its own. Connoisseurs may have the opinion that the renowned wine Condrieu in the northern Rhône Valley is the king of Viognier grapes, but Cuvée Thèrese proves that is it possible to reach high quality in southern Rhône.

Château Saint Estève d’Uchaux is a big old castle situated in the small and quite unknown wine region Massif d'Uchaux next door to the more well-known areas Cairanne, Rasteau and Gigondas, north of the renowned Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The domain owns 230 hectares of land, but most of it is completely inaccessible nature and only 50 hectares are planted with vines. On the top of the hills of the Massif d'Uchaux, the legendary Viognier vines grow in vineyards of unique soils covered with rocks of siliceous shell limestone. The winery is one of the best producers of Viognier wines in the region and Château St. Estève d'Uchaux was in fact the first house to introduce the Viognier grape in the southern Rhône Valley. The castle has been in the same family since 1809. After Marc Français took over the estate after his father in 1973, he decided to switch to organic viticulture to protect and preserve the rich flora and fauna of the region. Today all the wines from Château St. Estève d'Uchaux are certified organic.
